Nut bars

I can’t remember making these, but they seem good.

One recipe, for a massive amount, is about:

  • 5 lb nuts, lightly toasted and chopped – keep warm
  • 1.5 lb sweeteners / binders, e.g. syrups, honey, ground dates or prunes
  • 3 oz powdery stuff to help soak up moisture and bind

Mix warm sweetener into warm nuts, and press into a lined, oiled, tray, cut while warm, and then cool. Keep in fridge.

Another recipe I also can’t remember trying:

  • 1 c puffed rice or rolled oats or maybe also buckwheat
  • 1/2 c stuff (nuts, dried fruit, seeds, coconut)
  • 3/4 c honey, tahini
  • 1/3 – 1/2 c LSA

Toast and warm ingredients, add warm liquids, press/roll into a lined baking tray, cut, then set for 20 mins in fridge.

Chocolate is best pressed in after it is in the tray, or barely mixed in before, so it doesn’t melt through. Unless you’re after that effect, of course.
